What I Hope Is A Very Long Time - 1474 Words

Hands red, stinging, raw, with use. Sweat instantly formulates on my forehead. Laughter fills the air as children climb their way down the steps off the beaten up school bus. Looking left towards one of my best friends I can tell her crooked teeth glimmer after I finish telling my â€Å"favoritest joke ever!† Fourth grade wasn’t the start of this everlasting friendship, but time blossomed the friendship that has grown today. These are my people; this is our story. Four specific people have been placed in my life to stay for, what I hope is, a very long time. Jenna Van Wyk, Emily Deinken, Makayla Vander Zwaag, Noel Reece, and I are bordering indivisible. I’m not doing it. Your mom said YOU had to.† I crossed my arms; my eyes peered intensely into Jeena’s eyes, hoping that this time my point would be sustained. It was visible that Jenna was getting madder as the time went on. Her face scrunched up, turning a bright red. â€Å"Fine, whatever, if you won’t do it, then you are NOT getting any sweet streets or any snack. I’ll make sure of it!† Her voice started low but got higher with every word. The truth was lacking in her eyes, but the two younger girls couldnâ⠂¬â„¢t tell. Fear began to rise in Emily, visible to Jenna as a smirk grew in the place of her angered face. However, I wasn’t convinced. If it doesn’t get done then Jenna will get in trouble, not us. I thought. I looked at Emily conveying a signal for her to follow me upstairs where we could watch a movie instead. As we left I could hear Jenna sigh because she knew she failed. We had gotten too old to fall for the small tricks she played. Similar stories are always shared when we are together. She was our â€Å"bully†, always tried to bribe us to do her chores, or dismissed our pleas to play along with the older kids. Not all of the stories from daycare are bully stories; instead there are the hilarious ones that Emily and I reminisce in together today.
